The School of Veterinary Science (SVS) is offering a Tenure Track Fellowship (TTF), designed to foster a future academic in a supportive environment with the aim of progression to Lecturer over a 5-year period, a ¿track to tenure¿. We are seeking an applicant who has a genuine desire to develop a career in animal health research and to build and maintain collaborations with clinical and non-clinical colleagues in the SVS whilst also developing collaborations across the University and externally.

We encourage applications from promising researchers who wish to develop their careers to a higher level within an outstanding academic environment. Applicants must have a PhD in the area of animal health or a research area closely allied to this e.g. One health. Applicants with and without a veterinary degree / MRCVS will be considered and must have a high-quality CV with evidence of success in attracting external funding, developing research collaborations and high-quality publications / evidence of impact.

You will be a member of the Faculty of Health & Life Sciences within the Institute of Infection, Veterinary and Ecological Sciences (IIVES) and will sit within one of the four SVS departments, depending on you research interests and expertise. You will be line managed by the SVS Head of Veterinary Research and relevant Head of Department who will develop and agree your individual career progression plan during the early stages of your fellowship. Support and mentoring will be provided to build the successful applicant¿s independent research and teaching career.

You will be expected to bring in external funding, develop and deliver high quality teaching and successfully supervise postgraduate students. The first year will focus on establishing your research programme, with a limited amount of teaching. Teaching and administration duties will increase in the following two years but this will be carefully considered as part of your career progression plan. You will be considered for confirmation in post in the latter part of your third year at a Faculty level review panel. Eligibility for confirmation in post (permanent tenure) will be based on evidence that key criteria have been met.
