Edinburgh College of Art are currently recruiting for the role of SASS Manager. The main purpose of this role is to ensure quality of support, services and systems is maintained, and as required enhanced, in line with University regulations and policies and which meets the current and future strategic goals for ECA and Student Administration and Support Service (SASS).
The Opportunity:
To play a lead role in the development and operational management of the ECA’s Student Administration and Support Service including contributing to and/or leading continuous improvement activities that enhance student support and student and staff experience. Working as part of a small management team, support strategic and operational planning through the provision of professional expertise, advice and management information to key ECA staff (Head of SASS, L&T Directors in ECA and subject area, Senior Tutor, DOPS).
Exact responsibilities will be reviewed annually, although it is expected the post-holder would keep certain responsibilities year on year.
There are two managers with complimentary portfolio of duties. Each manager will at times be required to deputise for Head of SASS &/or provide cover for other SASS manager (including Student Support Manager which is a distinct role).
Your skills and attributes for success:
- Degree or equivalent, management experience and relevant work experience of working in an HEI in a similar/related role.
- Experience of managing change effectively, both in relation to stand-alone projects and more far reaching change projects. Evidence of influencing and negotiating skills with range of stakeholders often with differing needs.
- Ability to anticipate, identify, analyse and solve problems (clear solutions and implementation plans) with an appreciation of possible longer-term implications.
- Organisation and time management skills to plan and organise activities and allocate/delegate tasks.
- Substantial experience of supervising staff, training and developing individuals and team building
