Education and Academic Services
This part-time post is available from 12th September 2024 on a fixed-term basis until 13th June 2025. The role requires an average of 4 hours a week (annualised) and is term-time only, with more of the hours concentrated during key times of the year such as term 1 and less in term 3.
The salary works out at £12 per hour on Grade B, (full-time equivalent is £22,776 per annum, pro rata salary is £1,790 per annum). This will be paid to you in equal instalments throughout your contract, based on an average of 4 hours per week.
Applicants must be registered students at The University of Exeter for the 2024/25 Academic year.
Summary of the role/position
Student Mentors provide a friendly and professional peer welfare support service to students living in University owned/nominated accommodation, helping residents settle into life in Exeter. Offering support on an ongoing basis throughout their stay, this includes regular visits to students in accommodation. Mentors plan and run regular community-building events and play a key role in building community and promoting positive relationships between students within halls.
The role does not require you to live in University accommodation for the 2024/25 academic year.
As part of the shortlisting process you will be asked to take part in a candidate activity session on our Streatham campus (an online alternative will be available if you are unable to attend but we recommend attending in-person where possible). Dates for these are expected to be between 24th May and 3rd June. Following on from this, there will be an online individual interview for shortlisted candidates.
