RIE Administrator - Finance & General Admin

We are looking for a highly motivated Administrator to join our friendly team in the Directorate of Research, Innovation & Enterprise. The post is fulltime and permanent. This is a new role supporting both the Executive Office Manager and the RIE Finance Manager to enable the efficient running of the support function in the directorate. You will need to be proficient in dealing with finance administration and be willing to learn and instil the processes and policies which support the office administration systems.

Ideally, you will have previous experience of supporting a busy research-related community and be well versed in delivering a welcoming, supportive service to colleagues in the directorate. https://www.brookes.ac.uk/rie/

As administrator, you will assist and liaise with colleagues across the directorate, to ensure smooth communication, sharing of accurate information and diary management. You will support the Office Manager/PA to the Director to facilitate good cross-directorate relations, be able to respond in her absence and provide a high-quality service covering all aspects of office admin – HR matters, recruitment assistance, information access, general enquiries, diary management, directorate events etc. You will assist the RIE Finance Manager in creating accurate records and monitoring financial transactions and be able to answer general finance queries in her absence.

Skills and experience:

  • A-levels (or equivalent qualification)
  • Significant previous administrative experience in an office environment, ideally in Higher Education, research, and administration
  • Experience of successfully working to strict deadlines
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Able to work effectively on own initiative and collaboratively to achieve team goals
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail, demonstrate accuracy and keep precise records
  • Ability to manage spreadsheets/databases, analyse and report on data
  • Demonstrable IT skills and ability to use software packages appropriate to an office environment
  • Able to draft concise notes from complex discussions

It is a business requirement that staff in the Directorate of Research, Innovation & Enterprise work at least one or more day (s) a week on campus (Headington), as and when expected.
