Researcher– Protecting frontline staff and promoting wider health system resilience during global health emergencies

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Researcher to join the team at the Centre for Tropical Medicine and Global Health, Nuffield Department of Medicine. Reporting to Professor Molyneux, you will be a member of the Health Systems Collaborative (HSC) research group with responsibility for carrying out a Pandemic Sciences Institute (PSI) funded research project.  The work will involve scoping reviews, consultation activities and guidance development.

You will be responsible for designing and executing a scoping review on frontline staff experiences in conjunction with and support from the core project team, which includes: developing, reviewing and refining the research questions and search strategies; accessing, selecting and reviewing research papers; managing databases; analysing and synthesising data and writing up findings. You will manage your own academic research and administrative activities, which involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate the multiple aspects of the project and meet deadlines. You will collaborate with colleagues in HSC, PSI and Ethox in the preparation of research publications and present papers at conferences or public meetings. You will also develop ideas for future research funding and discuss these with colleagues.

It is essential that you hold a PhD/DPhil (or be close to completion) in a relevant subject such as health system resilience/responsiveness, human resources management, public/community engagement, human behaviour, pandemic preparedness or empirical ethics. You will have previous experience of participatory research and contributing to publications/presentations and you will be able to manage your own academic research and associated activities. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be willing to learn new research skills. Prior research experience in policy engagement is desirable.
