Job Summary

We invite applications for an enthusiastic Research Technician to join our Imperial Cancer Biomarker Resource Centre to help provide biobanking support for our early phase clinical cancer trials and research studies.

You will work within our multidisciplinary team to ensure the samples are collected and processed according to standard operating procedures, Good Clinical Practice, and college/trust policies.

You will be employed by Imperial College within the Division of Cancer based at the Hammersmith Hospital Campus and you will work under the supervision of CRUK Core Resource Manager, Naina Patel.

Duties and responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for collecting, processing and logging a variety of biological samples from several ongoing cancer trials and translational studies.
  • You will be involved in the day-to-day smooth running and maintenance of the laboratory, help researchers to identify suitable samples for their studies and maintain accurate records of acquired samples.

Essential requirements

  • You will have a BSc or equivalent degree in biological discipline and have some experience in handling and processing human specimens.
  • You will have excellent organisation and laboratory skills, with meticulous record keeping and attention to detail. The ability to work as part of a team and flexibly are essential.

This role is full-time and fixed-term for 12 months in the first instance and you will be based at Hammersmith Campus.
