About the Role

You will be joining the laboratory of Dr Cara Croft to further our understanding of mechanisms underlying Alzheimer’s disease. Specifically, you will be exploring the role of autophagy in the clearance of Alzheimer’s-linked tau protein. The post holder will support the principal investigator and research team with various experimental procedures, analysis of results and lab organisation, aiming not only to apply the current methods used in the laboratory, but also to improve their efficacy and expand their reach.  They will work under the direct supervision of the principal investigator and her team, but also be expected to work independently and provide input into the design and execution of experiments on a day-to-day basis.

About You

You will likely have a BSc or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline (Neuroscience, Physiology, Biology, or a related field). You will bring knowledge/experience in research techniques not limited to but including confocal microscopy, basic rodent handling, and molecular and cellular biology, although initial training in all relevant techniques will be provided. You will have an interest in Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases and want to develop your knowledge in this area and grow professionally.
