INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY

This part time (0.6 FTE) post is available immediately for 16 months.

Summary of the role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a recently formed lab which has established and is establishing new methods, working to understand and control the most important fungal disease affecting the staple crop, wheat, while reducing our reliance upon fungicides. You will work on the project “Epiphytic growth and nutrition for control of a wheat pathogen”, investigating the growth of the important wheat-infecting fungus, Zymoseptoria tritici, across the surface of a wheat leaf, with the aim of determining what nutrients it uses, how it obtains them, and how it interacts with other microbes on the wheat surface. This information will be used to develop new control strategies. You will be a key member of a small team at the forefront of this cutting edge research, carrying out microscopy and molecular biology tasks.
