Job summary

A Research Technician position is available within the Group of Mucosal Infection and Immunity, which forms part of the Department of Infectious Disease at Imperial College to work on research to develop new vaccines and to explore methodologies that aim to improve their immunogenicity. This post represents an exciting new opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team working on the projects headed by Professor Robin Shattock, within the Group of Mucosal Infection & Immunity.


Duties and responsibilities

You will be involved in a 8-month project to investigate human immune responses to novel vaccines to infectious diseases such as SARS-CoV-2, Chlamydia and HIV. In addition to processing clinical samples and determining the immune responses to the vaccines, the work will involve the development, optimisation and standardisation of new assays to analyse vaccine-elicited immune responses.


Essential requirements

You should hold at least a BSc or equivalent in immunology, molecular biology, biochemistry, virology or a related biological science discipline. Experience with processing PBMC and clinical sample processing are essential, as are experience of core immunological and/or molecular techniques. You should also have excellent laboratory skills and organisation, as detailed in the accompanying job description. Knowledge of word processing, data analysis, and data presentation software are also required.
