Can you provide technical support to research projects in digital diagnostics? Are you looking to broaden your horizons and contribute to projects with a commercial edge?

You will join this leading team within the Leeds Institute of Medical Research and provide technical support for the Women’s Health Research Group. This exciting project is focussed on assisting our programme of research focussed on artificial intelligence and computer-aided diagnostics in clinical histopathology. The work is varied, ranging from slide processing and scanning through to clinical metadata collection and data analysis. The work will also involve laboratory-based techniques such as immunohistochemistry and molecular biology approaches. The successful applicant will also be expected to contribute to the team’s broader portfolio into fertility, pregnancy complications and gynaecological cancers. Although the post is based at the University of Leeds (St James’s University Hospital site), aspects of the work will be conducted on NHS premises.

With previous laboratory experience (which can include a period of study), you will have effective organisational skills with an ability to manage your own workload to meet set deadlines. You must be an excellent team player with the ability to work on your own initiative. You will provide technical support for a productive research group’s programme in computer-aided diagnostics funded by US-based company 4D Path. The project is focussed on the development and application of novel algorithms for the automated detection of a range of cancers from digital histopathology images (in particular breast, lung, skin and gynaecological malignancies), thereby providing an adjunct diagnostic tool to clinical histopathologists.
