This is a pilot project examining how the welfare and health of wild Barbary macaques varies across gradients of human exposure in Ifrane National Park, Morocco. This is a Wild Animal Initiative funded project. The pilot project will run for three months between June and August, during which you will have the opportunity to learn a range of techniques and protocols, including: Behaviour data collection, Non-invasive hormone sample collection, Non-invasive assays of cognition and positive welfare

Due to the short-term of this project, a certificate of sponsorship would not be granted for this position.

You will Undertake the collection of research data as outlined in the job summary. Ensure that full and accurate documentation is kept for all work and ensure that all policies and processes, including quality assurance, are maintained and adhered to. Carry out administrative tasks related to the delivery of the research, planning work to agreed specifications, time and quality standards. Deal with problems that may affect the achievement of research objectives and deadlines. Maintain high standards of academic and commercial confidentiality.  Comply with relevant protocols regarding data confidentiality and security. Develop skills in relevant research methodologies. Attend and contribute to research/subject group meetings. You will also Engage with and participate in the University's appraisal process as reviewer and/or reviewee, as appropriate.

You will Contribute to a supportive working environment and develop productive working relationships with other team members. Attend and contribute to staff meetings. Act as an ambassador for the University in all interactions with current and prospective staff and students, visitors to the University, external partners, media and general public. Conduct field work in Ifrane National Park, Morocco with wild Barbary macaques. Collect behavioural data on the wild macaques and collect faecal samples using non-invasive methods from wild macaques.
