10184 COG-MHEAR (0.5FT) Research Project Manager – Fixed term for up to 41 months 

An exciting opportunity is available for a Research Project Manager to join the UK EPSRC Funded Programme Grant: COG-MHEAR, led by Programme Director (PD), Professor Amir Hussain and based in the School of Computing, Edinburgh Napier University (ENU).

COG-MHEAR is a world-leading cross-disciplinary research programme funded under the EPSRC Transformative Healthcare Technologies 2050 Call. It includes academic partners from 6 other UK Universities and a strong User-Group comprising industrial and clinical collaborators, and end-user engagement organisations. The ambitious programme aims to develop the world’s first multi-modal hearing-aid demonstrator by radically exploiting and integrating the transformative potential of privacy-assuring and explainable AI, 5G, IoT and cybersecurity, coupled with flexible (skin-based) electronics. The role: 

The role (flexible up to 50% full-time) involves co-ordinating and managing all aspects of the programme-grant and taking a leading research role in one or more individual COG-MHEAR project, under the direction of the PD.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Reporting to the PD, the post-holder will coordinate and manage all aspects of the programme-grant, including:

  • developing and flexibly maintaining overall strategies, ensuring all scientific and technical activities are delivering to the required quality and relevance against plan and budget
  • ensuring synchronisation, motivation and communications between the individual-projects that make up the COG-MHEAR programme
  • developing and maintaining interactions with the User-Group, including building liaisons with new User-Group members for whom the programme has relevance 
  • working closely with lead researchers of each individual COG-MHEAR project to promote required collaborations, ensuring results are communicated across the consortium, and building liaisons with relevant User-Group members.
  • support qualitative and/or quantitative research in one or more individual project in COG-MHEAR, under the direction of the PD, e.g. complement innovations in speech, hearing and/or public health research
  • undertaking other COG-MHEAR activities as appropriate, under the direction of the PD 

Who We Are Looking For:
A highly-motivated, flexible and adaptable individual who brings:

  • experience of project management and delivery, preferably in an interdisciplinary health/social care or a related setting;
  • demonstrable ability to make effective independent contributions to collaborative research/project teams;
  • ability to undertake policy development work relating to optimal user engagement and flexible risk-based management, to meet changes in the scientific, technological or user landscapes; 
  • preferably, experience of public engagement and the communication of research to a wider audience
