The Research Impact & Metrics Senior Specialist is responsible for assessing the effectiveness and impactfulness of KU's funding programs via the establishment of research esteem measures, ensuring better coordination in reporting to promote the impact of research outcomes and feed into program design to increase return on research investment.   

  • Provide funding program landscape input to ensure Internal Programs are designed to be agile, impactful and provide the appropriate return on research investment.
  • Developing the USR office approach to supporting research impact for the university
  • Developing and implementing our research impact goals, widening the appreciation of the strategic importance of impact as well as the understanding of different types of impact.
  • Track, record and report on research impact activities by embedding impact into research management processes and the KU Research Management System
  • Identify and recommend relevant internal and external linkages, and/or administrative actions, based upon the periodic reports submitted by faculty.
  • Building knowledge and skills in research impact amongst internal stakeholders
  • Develop workshops and informational resources for faculty and researchers related to impact activities and the timely/correct attribution of these activities.
  • Work closely with KU Communications to regularly disseminate (non-confidential) research impact news stemming from internal funding projects
  • Developing and identifying administrative tools and resources to support with impact planning and evidencing at institutional level.
  • Produce regular reports on impact for the University Research Council, which track impact across the university internal programs and monitor project/center progress against key metrics, KPIs and milestones
  • Design and solicit feedback from key constituents about current processes
  • Ensure the operational effectiveness and efficiency of the process, including identifying and implementing process improvements.
  • Use appropriate reporting system to provide support and training to research end users to ensure adherence to developed processes and procedures.
  • Support Line Manager and/or Director in preparation of materials for University Research Council and other R&D related meetings.
  • Adhere to the University's information security and confidentiality policies and procedures, and report breaches or other security risks accordingly
  • Coordinate with other departments to facilitate the accomplishment of tasks and responsibilities, as and when needed
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the Line Manager

Qualifications

  • At least a Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
  • Work experience with an emphasis on evidencing research impact in universities or in a sponsor organization.  
  • Must be familiar with research esteem related metrics and research funding program design.
  • Required Experience

Expats: A minimum 7-9 years of relevant  experience.

UAE Nationals: A minimum of 3-5 years  of relevant experience
