The Research Governance Officer will sit within the Research Operations Risk and Compliance function and will work with the Research Governance and Compliance Manager to continue the development and implementation of the Clinical Research Governance framework as part of the University’s overarching Research and Knowledge Exchange Risk and Compliance Framework. Working closely with operational leads, clinical trials unit, CIs and PIs, and PGRs to facilitate and ensures compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements. 

The role holder will lead the administration of research approval applications to ensure the necessary approvals and authorisations are obtained and recorded on information systems. Working closely with the Research Governance and Compliance Manager and the Head of Research Integrity, Governance and Compliance to provide recommendations on clinical research applications in line with the requirements of the Heath Research Authority and the UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care Research. 

Support the Research Governance and Compliance Manager with adherence to Clinical Trials legislation, and other regulations applicable to clinical research governance as set by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and/or the Health Research Authority (HRA).   

The role holder will have experience in providing advice, guidance and training on all matters relating to research governance and regulatory compliance.  Support and occasionally lead on identifying and implementing best practice in their area to ensure that the service continues to evolve in line with the external academic research landscape.

R&I provides comprehensive support throughout the research and innovation lifecycle, from first ideas through to commercialisation and industry partnerships. The teams provide invaluable expert advice, RKE management infrastructure and support to delivery of the University’s research and knowledge exchange strategies. 

This is a permanent, full-time post of 36.25 hours per week. Job share arrangements may be considered.
