The Department of Medical Statistics (MSD) specializes in applied and methodological research in medical statistics, statistical epidemiology, health data science and disease prevention. It also includes the LSHTM Clinical Trials Unit hub. We have an exciting opportunity for a statistician to join a collaborative project comparing follow up strategies for men diagnosed with prostate cancer, using large linked electronic health databases and disease registries. The statistical work is led by Professor Linda Sharples and the overall clinical lead is Professor Rakesh Heer, an inspirational consultant surgeon and urologist located at Imperial College and the Hammersmith Hospital.

The successful applicant will have a postgraduate degree, ideally a doctoral degree, in a relevant subject, proven ability to implement statistical methods to analyse large datasets, using relevant software (preferably R or Stata). Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential. Further particulars are included in the job description.

The post is full-time 1.0 FTE, 35 hours per week, although part-time (0.5-1.0 FTE) or a job share will be considered. The post is fixed term for 4 years. The post is funded by the National Institute for Health Research and is available from 01 July 2024. 

The salary will be on the Academic Pathway salary scale, Grade 6 £43,947 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part-time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.
