We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow who will work on a project entitled “Formation and function of the parasitophorous vacuole membrane in Plasmodium falciparum-infected erythrocytes”. The successful applicant will plan, direct and undertake research into natural phenomena and the research involves unravelling the function of a phospholipid transfer protein in the interaction of the malaria parasite with the host erythrocyte. 

The successful applicant will have a postgraduate degree (ideally a doctoral degree) in a biological science and relevant experience in molecular biology (PCR, cloning, immunoblotting), cell culture (sterile techniques, propagation of tissue culture cells) and fluorescence microscopy. This full-time post, based in London, is funded by MRC and is available until January 2023. Salary is on the Academic Grade 6 scale in the range £40,011 - £45,437 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available.
