Vacancy Overview
Fixed Term 0.4 FTE contract for 10 months from 1 September 2021.
14.6 hours per week, with flexible working.
Theatre and Performance Studies, (a division of the School of Creative Arts, Performance and Visual Cultures at the University of Warwick), seeks to appoint a Research Fellow to support a research project documenting and evaluating three initiatives taking place in Coventry to re-think and re-position how arts and creativity can change perceptions, policy and outcomes for those who are or have been homeless.
Rooted in a collaboration with Arts and Homelessness International (AHI), the project will focus on its work with Coventry City Council to refresh its homeless policy and rough sleeper strategy and two events happening during Coventry City of Culture:
HOME, an arts and homelessness festival and an online International Arts and Homelessness Summit.
The project will examine the rationale behind these initiatives, their co-production methodologies and probe outcomes for key stakeholders, participants and audiences. It will evaluate learning to take forward, contribution to capacity building and track emergent legacies.
As part of this project, you will undertake participant observation of events, conduct interviews and transcription, literature reviews, offer administrative support and contribute to research reports and academic writing.
You will be an excellent researcher capable of working effectively both independently and as part of a research team. You will possess excellent communication, planning and time management skills to ensure your research objectives are achieved effectively.
If you have not yet been awarded your PhD but are near submission or have recently submitted your PhD, any offers of employment will be made as Research Assistant on level 5 of the University grade structure (£30,046). Upon successful award of your PhD and evidence of this fact, you will be promoted to Research Fellow on the first point of level 6 of the University grade structure (£30,942 pa).

Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
Undertake research in order to support the work of the department and develop and enhance its reputation, both internally and externally. Work with project members in the successful execution of the project.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
Research and scholarship
• Carry out research relating to arts and homelessness.
• Undertake research that is compliant with ethical research methods and processes.
• Attend and document events in the arts and homelessness sector.
• Conduct and transcribe interviews with identified participants.
• Write up research work for publication in reports and/or refereed journals.
• Communicate (orally and in writing) research results.
• Continually update own knowledge and understanding in research field.
• May contribute to preparing proposals and applications to external bodies, e.g. for funding to support a developing research agenda.
Administration and Other Activities
• Offer administrative support to the research team
• Ensure compliance with health and safety in all aspects of work.
• Work within budget constraints.

Essential Criteria 1
Good honours degree and possession of a PhD or equivalent in relevant discipline (a).
