The Southampton String Theory and Holography group is offering a postdoctoral position in Holographic Duality, starting in the spring or autumn of 2024. The position is available until 30th September 2026 with a possible extension for a further year subject to financial approval. The successful candidate will be expected to undertake research within holographic duality, supporting the Royal Society University Research Fellowship of Dr Benjamin Withers. 

The University of Southampton (UK) is home to a large research group in string theory, holography and gravitational physics. The Group currently comprises 15 staff members and several postdocs and research students. The Group is part of the STAG Research Centre and has close ties with the astronomy and high-energy groups in the Physics and Astronomy department. 

In order to be considered for this post, the applicant must have a PhD or equivalent in Theoretical Physics or equivalent professional qualifications and experience. The applicant must also have a track record of research publications in holographic duality, theoretical gravitational physics or quantum field theory.

Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification.  The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD.  Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.
