Duties and Responsibilities
We invite applications for a Research Fellow or Senior Research Fellow post in the NIHR Mental Health Policy Research Unit (MHPRU).
The MHPRU team are drawn from UCL and three other universities. The project requires effective collaboration and joint working by a research team based across these sites. The programme of work for the MHPRU includes a broad spectrum of topics in mental health policy, and will change as new projects are commissioned. Current projects include work related to the impact of Covid-19 on mental health services; community services for people diagnosed with personality disorder, acute care systems, young people and screen time, and addressing social circumstances of people with mental health problems. Current and future projects are expected to involve national surveys of clinical practice, qualitative interviewing, analysis of routine national and local data, and literature reviewing
This post is offered 0.8 full-time equivalent until 31st August 2022 in the first instance. Funding for this post is very likely to be extended until the end of 2023.
Key Requirements
The successful postholder must have a completed PhD in a relevant subject area with a strong record of publications. The postholder must also have experience of conducting and analysing research using qualitative and quantitative methods in a relevant area, and have a good understanding of the experience of mental health service users and staff. It is also essential to be an individual that is highly motivated and organised with the ability to work independently.
For Grade 8 only:
Experience of conducting systematic reviews of scientific literature.
Excellent statistical skills and knowledge of Stata statistical software.
Skills and experience in supervising and supporting junior colleagues.
Skills and experience in project management and leading work packages
The appointment will be made as either Research Fellow or Senior Research Fellow dependent on the successful candidates experience.
