An exciting opportunity exists to be part of the Digital Lifecycle Management Group, part of the world renowned WMG at the University of Warwick. This position will support rapid deployment of new manufacturing technologies necessary for lightweight e-mobility strategy in the automotive industry. It builds on WMG’s award-winning simulation technology, which led to the first fully digitally developed robotic cell for aluminium automotive door assembly with remote laser welding.

This is an excellent opportunity for you to apply your technical skills within the strategically important areas of robotics and metrology and its application for a new automotive manufacturing system for e-mobility being developed as part of the new EPSRC Made Smarter Innovation - Research Centre for Smart, Collaborative Industrial Robotics (CESCIR) focused on creating a multi-disciplinary, cross-sectorial hub to set the national research agenda in smart, collaborative industrial robotics, and deliver the next generation of automated factories.

A talented individual with a background in robotics, metrology, and machine learning is being invited to join a team of multidisciplinary researchers (material/mechanical/industrial/computer engineers and computational modellers) to work on this project. You will work closely with senior research staff and will be responsible for supporting development of closed-loop in-process (CLIP) digital twin for collaborative and autonomous robotic system used for e-mobility manufacturing.

You will as a minimum hold a PhD level qualification, have undertaken complimentary research in the above areas and potentially be able to demonstrate your capability through appropriate industrial experience.

If you have not yet been awarded your PhD but are near submission or have recently submitted your PhD, any offers of employment will be made as Research Assistant on level 5 of the University grade structure (£30,046). Upon successful award of your PhD and evidence of this fact, you will be promoted to Research Fellow on the first point of the level 6 of the University grade structure (£30,942).
