Qualitative Research Fellow to join the Data Science Group

About us

The Data Science Research Group at the University of Southampton is based in the Primary Care Research Centre. Our work uses large volumes of complex, heterogeneous, multi-dimensional and often unstructured datasets from different sources. We aim to understand patterns, trends, and associations of diseases to inform preventive action in the UK and international contexts. Our group includes a diverse multidisciplinary team conducting high quality and innovative research addressing complex health and social care challenges of the 21st century. We employ traditional statistical and epidemiological methods, alongside cutting-edge  artificial intelligence algorithms to gain insights into real-world problems. This is combined with qualitative research to provide   deeper understanding, insights and application of big data findings.

About the role

The Data Science Research Group at the Primary Care Research Centre is recruiting. You will join a successful inter-disciplinary and mixed methods team with extensive qualitative and quantitative expertise. This position is a unique opportunity to join an experienced, fast-paced and high-output research group, working closely with our supportive team to help deliver School for Primary Care Research (SPCR), National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and United Kingdom Research and Innovation (UKRI) funded projects in populations with multiple long-term conditions. You will contribute to qualitative interviews, thematic analysis, evidence synthesis and draft high-quality academic research papers for dissemination.

About you

If you believe you meet the requirements for the post, come and join us to take forward this exciting opportunity and become part of an innovative and dynamic research group where you will be valued, included and supported.

You will be educated to postgraduate degree level and must have an established track record in conducting qualitative research and analysis. You will have experience in recruitment, data collection and thematic analysis techniques for qualitative studies, and knowledge of conducting focus group research.
