Research Fellow: Starting salary isnormally in the range of £35,559 per annum

Location: Cranfield, Bedfordshire

We welcome applications for this exciting new Research Fellow post. The work undertaken in this role will support a funded international project that will deliver major impact through development of novel design methods/ tools and experimental rigs. The research is aimed at developing future ultra-low emission combustion technologies for the aviation industry.  

About the Role

This post will be contributing to research on a project as part of a large team. It involves research activities within the Centre for Propulsion and Thermal Power Engineering, especially focusing on the development and application of novel methods/tools and experimental rigs for advanced combustion system design for future ultra-low emission aero-propulsion systems. The role involves numerical analysis and theoretical design, the use of CFD software (e.g STAR-CCM+, Ansys, Openfoam etc.) and combustion rig design, assembly, instrumentation and testing.

About You

To be appointed at Research Fellow level, you will be educated to doctoral level in a relevant subject with the necessary technical knowledge and experience. You will have experience in composing project deliverables, delivering effective presentations, and be able to assist in project integration workshops and other meetings. With excellent communication skills, you will also be a good team player, and have the ability to cope with pressure. Project planning is also an important skill for this post along with the ability to demonstrate self-motivation, perseverance, and initiative.
