Duties and Responsibilities
The Department of Applied Health Research (DAHR) at UCL are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow in Health Economics. The post holder will be member of the Health Economics Group in the Department of Applied Health Research (a growing team of 9 health economists), and the wider UCL Health Economics Network (40+ health economists and economists working on health across UCL).
The Research Fellow in Health Economics will be responsible for leading the health economic analysis within HERCULES. HERCULES aims to develop a cost-effective, equitable and sustainable model for providing outpatient eye care in a community setting using rapid diagnostic technology. The Research Fellow will lead on a number of different health economic analyses to assess performance and viability, including understanding patient preferences for diagnostic hubs, the cost and cost effectiveness of the hub, exploring patient outcomes (both PROMs and PREMs) and modelling the longterm sustainability with respect to whether faster diagnosis delivers quicker treatment/management which is ultimately sight-saving for patients.
This is a full time post available for 12 months in the first instance (project end date is Feb 2023) and will be based at the UCL Department of Applied Health Research.
Key Requirements
The post holder should have a PhD in health economics, or equivalent research experience. They should have experience of developing and delivering successful research grant funding applications, and a good peer reviewed publication record.
The post holder should have experience of:
conducting high quality academic research using health economic research methods to evaluate complex health care/public health interventions in the UK NHS;
in depth knowledge of a wide variety of research designs and methods for conducting health economic evaluations;
writing health economic analysis plans for research investigations;
collaborating with health care and/or public health professionals in research.
