Research Fellow in Electrical Electronic Engineering for Manufacturing Technologies and Robotics, 3D Weaving Innovation Centre, School of Design, Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Cultures
Are you a researcher, or have equivalent industrial experience with proven abilities to carry out research in electrical electronic engineering for manufacturing technologies and robotic devices? Are you able to use, to visualise your expertise in supporting and complementing our existing strengths in 2D and 3D weaving of solid, hollow and shaped components using the latest weaving technologies for manufacture? Are you able to use your expertise to support advancing robotic device/s for adapting and enhancing manufacturing technologies, the latest industrial weaving machine together with associated ancillaries and auxiliaries and inbuilt to external specialised and commercially available software? Do you have working knowledge of PLC and other digital communication systems for production outputs using robotic devices for specific manufacturing functions?
The School of Design is a highly ranked department with a vibrant research culture and a commitment to excellence in teaching and research. You will join an experienced, innovative and diverse team and will be actively involved in research, producing high quality publications and contributing to the School’s Research Excellence Framework (REF), developing a record of research / knowledge commensurate with the level of the post and with a clear indication of the ability to achieve internationally recognised standards of excellence.
As a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow, or with equivalent industrial experience in electrical electronic engineering for manufacturing technologies and robotics, with a focus on industrial weaving machines, you will be working on a Leeds Institute of Textiles and Colour (LITAC), Clothworkers’ funded project “adaptive technologies for textile assembly” for use with weaving technologies for weaving shaped 2D and 3D woven composite form/s using commercial and specialised software.
The project has a national industrial partner, commercial confidentiality will be crucial. Ability to commute to both the University of Leeds and when required Doncaster for the duration of the project that forms part of the research deliverables.
