ABOUT THE ROLE

The Research Fellow will work as part of cross-institutional multi-disciplinary team and will support the Northumbria University lead investigator Professor Rob Wilson in the delivery of research activity to support the development of a new regional collaboration: Northern Health Futures (NortHFutures) Hub, funded by EPSRC and launching in Autumn 2023: https://northfutures.org/

The hub will establish a health technologies innovation ecosystem across the North East and North Cumbria (NENC) region. The project is led by Newcastle University, partnering with five other universities in the region, along with the NHS Integrated Care Board (ICB) for NENC, seven local NHS Trusts, the regional Academic Health Sciences Network, Health Data Research UK, and Innovation SuperNetwork, plus over 40 partners in industry, health and care provision, local government and the Voluntary Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector.

The role is a two year fixed term from April 2024-April 2026.

ABOUT THE TEAM

This Research Fellow will be part of the Department of Entrepreneurship Innovation and Strategy (EIS), Newcastle Business School working in collaboration with colleagues in Computing, Design, Psychology and Nursing and Health Sciences across the University.  NBS is housed in the award-winning City Campus East, Newcastle Business School wants to be regarded as ‘a force for good’, disseminating its research internationally, nationally and regionally. Our research focuses on the ways in which organisations and places are shaped by globalised processes requiring international comparative research to understand change at both micro and macro levels.

Committed to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals advocating positive business ethics and corporate behaviour, the core themes of our research revolve around the questions: How can we embed responsibility in business practice; how can innovation and entrepreneurship reshape regional economies; and how can the public sector embrace new ways of working? The School also plays a significant role in a city-region challenged by the legacy of de-industrialisation but that is also characterised by export-led business, ethical companies, innovative entrepreneurs and a commitment to responsive public services. For more information on NBS Research see https://www.northumbria.ac.uk/about-us/academic-departments/newcastle-business-school/nbs-research/

The EIS Department's academics are delivering high impact research to understand big societal questions around how citizens can be empowered to digitally – and interactively - engage with governments, political organisations, healthcare providers and civic authorities on a local and national scale. You will also be part of the Newcastle Business School Research Cluster on Public Management (RPM3) as well as cross faculty groups on Digital Health, Urban Futures, and Health and Social Equity (CHASE).
