Duties and Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified Research Fellow to join the Fisher laboratory at UCL's Cancer Institute. 
The lab develops state-of-the-art computational models to investigate cancer evolution and mechanisms of treatment resistance, in order to find new therapeutic strategies that can be translated into clinical trials and improve the outcome of cancer patients www.ucl.ac.uk/cancer/fisher-lab.
The post holder will make significant contributions to the development and analysis of a computational model of triple-negative breast cancer to predict and explain differential treatment responses. They will be expected to plan, develop and carry out original research, as well as develop and refine computational modelling methods and use BioModelAnalyzer. 
The successful candidate will oversee experimental validation through collaboration with experimental laboratory and clinical collaborators, as well as independently drive projects, plan work flows and trouble shoot technical and other problems.  The post holder will also be required to maintain detailed, accurate and up-to-date laboratory records and communicate results and experimental details clearly, presenting regular progress reports. They must also contribute to writing grant applications as appropriate.
This post is funded for 1 year in the first instance with a possibility to extend to 3 years
Key Requirements
A BSc in a relevant subject, with a First or Upper Second, is essential. The post holder must also have a PhD, or be studying towards a PhD in a relevant subject.
The successful candidate must have a proven track record of scientific publication and conference presentations, experience with programming in R and be confident with computational modelling and bioinformatics.  The post holder should have the ability to work independently and use their own initiative, whilst also be able to work well in a multidisciplinary team. Experience in supervising PhD and/or MSc students is also necessary.
Being skilled in analytical and critical thinking, as well as having excellent writing and presentation skills is essential. The successful candidate should also have excellent communication skills and collaborative interpersonal skills.
Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Research Assistant Grade 6B (salary £32,217 - £33,958 per annum) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.
