The Asia Research Institute (ARI), National University of Singapore (NUS), invites applications for ONE Research Fellowship to join the BRISM project team.
The successful applicant is expected to commence duties at NUS in October 2022, or as soon as possible thereafter.
Research Project
The BRISM project examines the implications of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) on student mobilities and academic linkages that are shaping young people’s aspirational pathways in moving across places and in expanding the knowledge spaces of the region. The study employs a cross-disciplinary conceptual and methodological approach to study two education tracks in regional student mobility flows: (a) vocational training student mobilities; and (b) elite university student mobilities, that are also augmented by academic linkages between China and SEA. The research field sites include China, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Singapore. The project is funded by the Singapore Ministry of Education Academic Research Fund Tier 2.
Successful applicants will be hosted in the ARI Asian Migration Cluster and will work with the BRISM team comprising local and international scholars (PI: Associate Professor KC Ho, Co-PI: Professor Brenda Yeoh, Collaborator: Cheng Yi’En) to advance knowledge on the ways China is shaping tertiary education spaces and new circuits of mobility among youths in Southeast Asia.
Job Description
The Research Fellow will conduct primary and secondary research across various aspects of the project, drive research progress, and work with research assistants to provide administrative support.
The Research Fellow will contribute to implementing the research project, refining research questions, collecting field data, performing rigorous analyses of data, presenting research work at international and domestic conferences, and work jointly with team members in authoring publications in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.
