We are seeking a full-time Research Fellow and Engineering Manager to join the Turbomachinery Research Group and the Oxford Thermofluids Institute, within the Department of Engineering Science based at the Southwell Lab, Osney Mead. This is a fixed-term position for 5 years.

You will be primarily responsible for ensuring the smooth running of all facilities and engineering aspects of the Southwell Research Laboratory. You will work closely with the Donald Shultz Professor of Turbomachinery as well as the Deputy Administrator (Buildings and Facilities) and will be responsible for the line management of workshop and maintenance technicians.

You will also be expected to contribute to the research activities of the laboratory, managing your own academic research and administrative activities whilst providing technical expertise for the turbomachinery research group, heat transfer and cooling activities.

You should possess a doctorate in a field relevant to the position (with the possibility to underfill at Grade 7 (£32,236 - £39,609 p.a.) for candidates with potential but less experience or qualifications who are seeking a development opportunity) and have excellent communication and organisational skills, with an open and friendly approach.
