WMG is a vibrant, cutting-edge research institution at the University of Warwick, one of the world’s leading research and education groups with state-of-the-art technologies. WMG hosts one of the seven centres for the High Value Manufacturing (HVM) Catapult. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Research Fellow in 5G Communication for Industry 4.0 Applications. You will work in collaboration with academic and industrial partners and will be responsible for project delivery and providing regular updates to the wider Connectivity and Communications Technology team.
You will need to demonstrate knowledge of and experience in wireless communication with a focus on both 5G and, preferably, manufacturing, through a strong publication record. You will need to have proven knowledge and awareness of the underlying state-of-the-art technology, standards, and methods, and be able to contribute to future avenues for 5G deployment within a factory environment. Evidence of expert programming skills in LabVIEW is seen as an advantage for your application.
This is an excellent opportunity for you to demonstrate research leadership and to have the opportunity to develop your own professional network through interaction with a multi-disciplinary team of researchers & engineers, as well as industrial partners during the life of the project. You will have a diverse set of opportunities to develop yourself professionally both in technical and non-technical aspects.
We will provide a great range of benefits which include an attractive pension scheme, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays and Christmas closure, some fantastic savings on a wide range of products and services, and excellent learning and development opportunities.
At WMG we are committed to supporting staff to achieve their potential. We are supportive of staff with caring responsibilities including a generous maternity/paternity/adoption/parental leave policy, and onsite childcare facilities. We will consider applications for employment on a part-time or other flexible working basis, even where a position is advertised as full-time, unless there are operational or other objective reasons why it is not possible to do so.
If you have not yet been awarded your PhD but are near submission or have recently submitted your PhD, any offers of employment will be made as Research Assistant on level 5 of the University grade structure (£30,497). Upon successful award of your PhD and evidence of this fact, you will be promoted to Research Fellow on the first point of the level 6 of the University grade structure (£31,406).
