Deadline: 09 Mar 2022

Vacancy Type/Job category
Research Only
Department
Computer Science
Salary
£31,406 - £40,927 per annum
Location
University of Warwick, Coventry
Vacancy Overview
A Research Fellow position in computational complexity theory is available for up to 8 months ending in June/2023. The start date can be negotiated for the successful candidate. Full time position.
The position is available in connection with a research grant of Dr Igor Carboni Oliveira (Warwick) and Prof Rahul Santhanam (Oxford) on “Structure vs Randomness in Algorithms and Computation”. The main objective of the post is to exploit structure versus randomness dichotomies to give new algorithmic results, complexity lower bounds that make progress on P vs NP, and formal independence results stating that complexity lower bounds cannot be proven in restricted mathematical theories.
You will have a strong background in theoretical computer science, with a specialization in complexity theory or a closely related area. You will have (or expect to obtain shortly) a PhD in the relevant area.
You should provide with your application form a CV including a list of publications and the names and contact details of up to three references.
You will be formally based in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Warwick, and you will be associated with the Centre for Discrete Mathematics and its Applications (http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/fac/cross_fac/dimap ) and the Division of Theory and Foundations at the University of Warwick.
For further information and informal inquiries, please contact Dr Igor Carboni Oliveira (email: [email protected])
Interview Date/s: TBC.
