Vacancy Overview
Fixed Term Contract until 31/10/24, 36.5 hours per week.
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research fellow position to work on the project Neglected tropical diseases modelling consortium: Informing programme decision-making.
The position is part of a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation funded project to develop quantitative modelling and analyses to inform the design of intervention programs for six neglected tropical diseases. The post-holder will develop new statistical methodology to fit infectious disease models to incomplete data, especially at fine spatial scales. They will use skills in Bayesian statistics, mathematical modelling and programming to improve the modelling of neglected tropical diseases at a sub-national level. The post-holder will become part of the world-leading Department of Statistics at the University of Warwick. They will be hosted within the Zeeman Institute and will work closely with the other groups within the Neglected Tropical Diseases Modelling Consortium.

Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
You will undertake innovative research in computational Bayesian statistics applied to neglected tropical disease modelling.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
To contribute to the research climate within the NTD modelling consortium and the department of Statistics.
Research
1. To work collaboratively within the project as directed, working with other researchers and senior investigators on the project.
2. To establish a sound research base within the department in order to pursue individual and collaborative research of high quality.
3. To publish research outcomes in appropriate journals of international standing and to publish and disseminate the result of research and scholarship in other outlets.
4. To attend and present research findings and papers at academic and professional conferences, and to contribute to the external visibility of the department.
5. To develop and document releasable academic software implementing the research methods to aid dissemination amongst researchers in the field.
Administration and Other Activities
6. To participate in departmental and consortium activities such as workshops and other events.
7. To carry out small admin tasks (such as web-site support, help with event co-ordination) as directed by the project director.
8. To participate in relevant professional activities, such as departmental research seminars.

Upon successful award of your PhD and evidence of this fact, you will be promoted to Research Fellow on the first point of level 6 of the University grade structure (£31,406 pa).
