This is an exciting opportunity for a social scientist / health economist with quantitative skills to join the LSHTM team of the HIGH Horizons Consortium. The Consortium, over four years, involves 5 partners in the EU, 3 in Africa and 1 international organization (WHO). Its objective is to develop cost-effective climate adaption/mitigation interventions specific to the needs of pregnant women, infants and their health workers in Kenya, South Africa, Sweden and Zimbabwe.
The post-holder will provide methodological and analytical support for (i) the economic analysis of early warning systems strategies for pregnant women and health workers, (ii) the cost-effectiveness of implemented climate adaption-mitigation interventions and (iii) the co-development of a resource-allocation tool for mitigation strategies.
The post-holder will be part of the Department of Global Health & Development in the Faculty of Public Health & Policy.
The ideal candidate will have a postgraduate degree in a relevant topic, strong quantitative skills and experience in economic evaluation and health systems research. Willingness to travel overseas for short visits is also essential. Further particulars are included in the job description.
The post is part-time 17.5 hours per week, 0.5 FTE (2.5 days per week) and fixed-term until 26 August 2026. The post is funded by the UKRI and is available from 1 July 2024.
The salary will be on the Academic Pathway salary scale Grade 6 in the range £43,947 - £49,908, pro rata, per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.
