The Role

The Faculty of Business and Social Sciences at Kingston University invites applicants for the role of Research Facilitator to provide pro-active support on research grant proposals for research-active academics in the Faculty.

As part of the duties, the Research Facilitator will provide one-to-one support to research-active academics to draft and develop competitive and transdisciplinary large grant proposals; identify funding opportunities and provide advice and guidance on potential routes to multi-disciplinary research; support the coordination of large-scale proposals, ensuring that internal and external partners are working effectively towards funder requirements and deadlines whilst inputting advice and guidance as regards the drafting of the application.

The Person

The ideal candidate will have a good honours degree (or equivalent) and experience in a research funding environment, such as a university, research funding agency, or industrial/government sector.

They need a thorough understanding of the research landscape, particularly in crafting large-scale grant proposals. They must be adept at identifying varied funding opportunities and guiding the development of multidisciplinary research.

Strong in project coordination, they should work effectively under pressure and communicate professionally with various stakeholders. This role requires exceptional interpersonal skills for one-on-one academic support and the ability to manage the development of significant grant proposals.

The candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Office with strong numerical skills. They must be an effective communicator, able to collaborate in a dynamic environment, and contribute to impactful research that aligns with the University’s Town House Strategy .

They can voice their opinion and offer ideas and solutions to problems. They can clearly and effectively communicate within their team and with the research office and are enthusiastic about working in a collaborative, vibrant environment and contributing to impactful research that engages with the industry.

This is a part-time (18.5 weekly hours), fixed-term position until 31 July 2024 with a starting salary of £18,823.00 per annum (50% pro rata to £37,646.00 per annum).
