Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 12 months or until 30 September 2025, whichever is sooner, in the first instance.
The Role:
The Research Coordinator will co-ordinate the efficient running of several research projects which sit within the newly-proposed RAISE institute. These projects will include the End Everyday Racism project (https://racismatcambridge.org/ ) and the Black British Voices Project (https://www.bbvp.org/ ), amongst others.
The Research Co-ordinator will join a small but tightly-knit team at RAISE, working closely with the academic director and the full-time Project Co-ordinator, who will also act as their line manager. They will also work with researchers within the different projects, assisting the academic leads and their research assistants.
This role is suitable for remote or hybrid working, with hot-desking space available at the Department of Sociology at the University of Cambridge.
Institute for Race, Antiracism, Inequality and Social Exclusion (RAISE):
The newly-proposed Institute for the study of Race, Antiracism, Inequality and Social Exclusion (RAISE) is currently in a scoping phase, supported by seed funding from the Kellogg Foundation. The institute aims to deliver an ambitious programme of impact-oriented research that address the escalating challenge of racism and intersectional oppression worldwide.
Department of Sociology:
The Department of Sociology is based in the Faculty of Human, Social and Political Science (HSPS), within the School of the Humanities and Social Sciences, at the University of Cambridge. Cambridge Sociology was ranked #2 in the 2021 Research Excellence Framework. It has a vibrant teaching programme at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as a diverse range of research clusters and networks.
About you:
In order to succeed in this role, you will join us with significant experience in antiracist research or applied antiracist projects. We are looking for demonstrable organisational and administrative experience, knowledge of project and event management, and communications. Experience of policy work and fundraising would also be an advantage, but is not required.
