The Acoustics Research Centre

Acoustics research has been conducted at Salford for 60 years. Our research is funded by research councils, government bodies, and industry and has fed into products that companies make and sell Worldwide, as well as regulations and standards used in the UK, Europe and beyond. In the most recent government Research Excellence Framework (REF 2014) we were described as having achieved ‘outstanding impact in acoustics”. Our state of the art test facilities are home to a team of Engineers and Technicians carrying out a very wide range of testing, calibration and research ranging from UKAS accredited standard tests to large scale bespoke measurement programmes.

The aim of the role is to join the team in the Acoustics Laboratories to further develop the commercial and research offering in the audio and acoustics areas, promoting these services to industrial and other clients and generating income from both short and longer term research and commercial projects. The post holder will liaise with clients and is expected, where appropriate, to publish to academic journal and conference.

You will be a member of the Acoustics Research Centre and will be line managed by the Laboratory Director, Prof. Andy Moorhouse, working closely with academic colleagues and the Acoustics Laboratories team. There will also be opportunities to work with undergraduate and post graduate students.

The post will be based at University of Salford but will involve some travel for meetings with clients and other stakeholders.
