The Warwick University History Department is one of the largest history departments in the UK, with teaching and research notable for its disciplinary range and geographical scope. The Department has a significant budget of £10 million in teaching and research income. The Department is comprised of 52 academic staff, 12 postdoctoral staff, 11 support staff, ~900 undergraduate students, and ~100 postgraduate students. The Department has a strong international reputation and high rankings in university guides and surveys, and was ranked first in the UK in the last Research Excellence Framework (REF) for the proportion of world-leading research activity (4*) in the Department. The Department of History seeks to appoint a pro-active and dynamic Research Centre Co-ordinator to provide high level and effective administrative support to the Directors of two Research Centres: the Centre for History of Medicine (CHM) and the European History Research Centre (EHRC) and the Department Co-ordinator (Finance/Research). In particular, the role holder will support events and activities organised through the Research Centres, including events organisation, web maintenance, producing publicity materials, booking of catering, accommodation, and travel, monitoring research grant budgets and the operating budgets of the two Research Centres, raising purchase orders, processing invoices, and dealing with expense claims.
The post is offered on a permanent 0.65 FTE basis (23.7 hours per week), and it is hoped that the successful candidate can work four or five days a week and we are happy to be flexible for the right candidate. Training and induction will be provided.

Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
To assist with the events and activities of two research centres, the Centre for History of Medicine (CHM) and the European History Research Centre (EHRC), including events management, producing publicity material, budget monitoring, processing of invoices and expense claims. This includes direct support to the Department Co-ordinator (Finance/Research) and the two Directors of the research centres.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To co-ordinate the research activities of two of the Department’s research centres: the Centre for History of Medicine (CHM) and the European History Research Centre Research (EHRC); including communication with staff and external funding bodies, web maintenance, event organisation, and production of publicity material.
2. To provide financial management and monitoring of the research projects associated with the two research centres, both internally and externally funded, and of the operating budgets of the centres.
3. To advise on whether expenditure is permitted by the funder and/or the University; raising sales and purchase orders; processing invoices and expenses claims; preparation and submission of timesheets for part-time and fixed-term staff; and consultation with centre directors and principal investigators to ensure deadlines are met and budgets are used appropriately.
4. To coordinate and provide general support for centre events, including conferences, public lectures, research seminar series, and reading groups.
5. To liaise with guests and visitors of the research centres and the Department, particularly in relation to travel and accommodation arrangements and expense claims.
6. To support the postgraduate and postdoctoral communities associated with the centres, providing the resources and environment to assist in their integration and inclusion within the centres, the Department, and the wider Arts Faculty.
7. To provide other ad hoc departmental support as required by the Departmental Co-ordinator (Finance/Research), the Department Administrator, or the Head of Department.
