Job summary
Applications are invited for a fully funded Cross-Centre Research Associate in Computational Genomics in the UK Dementia Research Institute. You will lead one or more projects characterising the epigenome of midbrain cell-types for the interpretation of Parkinson’s Disease susceptibility. You will be based at the Imperial College London under the immediate guidance of Dr Alexi Nott (https://nottgroup.com/index.html ) to profile the epigenome and chromatin architecture of midbrain cell-types with additional bioinformatics supervision from, and regular residential visits to Prof Caleb Webber’s team (Cardiff University) (https://ukdri.ac.uk/team/calebwebber ). You will contribute to the design and analysis of large-scale ‘omics datasets with a primary focus on analysis of the epigenome and chromatin architecture to address major research questions relevant to PD. The position is available initially for a period of 2 years, with potential for extension.
We are a globally leading multidisciplinary research institute of 800 staff investigating the spectrum of neurodegenerative disorders causing dementia, with laboratory-based research groups located at Imperial College London , University College London, the University of Cambridge, Cardiff University, Edinburgh University, and King’s College London.

Duties and responsibilities
- Analysis and visualisation for large scale ‘omics datasets
- Lead computational projects exploring the transcriptome, epigenome and 3D chromatin architecture of brain cell types
- Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary research team
- Demonstrate an aptitude for an organised, methodical approach to your work
Essential requirements
- Strong programming skills in R, Python, or other coding languages (e.g., C++, Matlab)
- Experience within a High-Performance Computing environment
- Research Associate: Hold a PhD (or equivalent) in Computational Biology, Mathematics or a closely related discipline, or equivalent research or industrial experience

The role is offered full time and fixed term, initially for two years with the potential for extension.
The post is based in the new UK DRI research labs on the White City Campus in West London. You will benefit from an active research (and social) environment in the Department of Brain Sciences, with additional research labs in the Burlington Danes Building on the nearby Hammersmith Campus.
