Research Associate / Senior Research Associate in Future Network Intelligence

The High-Performance Networks group (HPN), part of the Smart Internet Lab (SIL), is internationally leading and highly influential in the field of future networks.

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic person, with passion for research in topics such as AI/ML for network intelligence and network digital twin.

You will be offered one of the following salary grades: Research Associate (I), Senior Research Associate (J); depending on the skills and experience you are able to bring to the role. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out research on AI/ML for network intelligence and network digital twin.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the research in the HPN group by developing native network solutions for future networks and carry out evaluation over deployed network testbeds in Bristol.

  • Background and experience in AI/ML principles, workflows, and implementation, as well as networking protocols and architectures. Willingness and potential to develop some of this understanding, as appropriate.
  • Candidates for a Grade I position should have, or be working towards, a PhD in computer science, networks or communications, and/or experience with at least one the following areas:

- Applied AI/ML model-based intelligence in networking

- AI for network optimisation and services

- Embedded intelligence in the networks through E2E AI

  • Candidates for a Grade J position should already possess a PhD in a closely related field with relevant PDRA experience.
  • Excellent verbal and presentation communication skills and the ability to deal with a wide range of people 
  • Ability to prioritise own work in response to deadlines
