The research group investigates the intra- and interindividual consequences of intrapersonal conflict in the broad sense (cognitive conflict, ambivalence, mixed emotions, attitudinal conflict, doubt, and uncertainty). The main focus is on understanding how such conflict shapes affect, cognition, and behavior at the individual and interpersonal level. For example, the research in the group examines the cognitive underpinnings of (subjective) conflict and its consequences for information processing, (social) decision-making, and social judgments. We study these processes across a broad range of domains, from social behavior to work and relationships, to behavioral change in different areas. We use a wide range of methods ranging from self-report, response time, and process tracking, to incentive-based behavioral paradigms. Requirements: a university (Diploma/Master) and PhD degree in psychology or related fields (e.g. Behavioral or Experimental Economics). Willingness to pursue own scientific qualification/career and acquisition of third-party funded projects. Experience with process tracing (e.g., mouse tracking, eye tracking) and/or neuroscience methods (EEG) and advanced data skills (computational modeling, machine learning, data scraping) are an advantage. Teaching experience is a plus. The working language in the group is English and excellent written and spoken English skills are essential.
