One Postdoctoral Researcher position (Research Associate) in soft robotics and tactile robotics is available to support the activities of the University of Bristol and Bristol Robotics Laboratory on the £6 million ISCF Research Centre for Smart, Collaborative Industrial Robots (CESCIR) (gow.epsrc.ukri.org/NGBOViewGrant.aspx?GrantRef=EP/V062158/1 ).
The role will develop soft, tactile and dextrous robotic technologies for next-generation industrial applications and human-robot collaboration.
We are looking for world-class researchers with a high degree of innovative spirit and enthusiasm to operate at the very cutting edge of robotics and manufacturing research. You will be a member of the Bristol SoftLab (www.bristol.ac.uk/softlab ) and Tactile Robotics (www.bristol.ac.uk/engineering/research/tactile-robotics ) groups at Bristol Robotics Laboratory (www.bristolroboticslab.com ), leaders in robotics technology innovation.
During this project you will:
- Undertake fundamental and applied dexterous manipulation research involving the development of modular soft robotics actuation/sensing technologies and/or high-resolution tactile sensor technologies.
- Work within a multi-disciplinary, multi-institute team on the development of soft and tactile robotic technologies for manipulation in manufacturing.
You have, or are expected to receive, a PhD in soft robotics, tactile robotics or related disciplines.
For informal queries please contact Professor Nathan Lepora [email protected].
To find out more about what it's like to work in the Faculty of Engineering, and how the Faculty supports people to achieve their potential, please see our staff blog:

Interviews are anticipated to be held on 13 June 2024.
We recently launched our strategy to 2030 tying together our mission, vision and values.
The University of Bristol aims to be a place where everyone feels able to be themselves and do their best in an inclusive working environment where all colleagues can thrive and reach their full potential. We want to attract, develop, and retain individuals with different experiences, backgrounds and perspectives – particularly people of colour, LGBT+ and disabled people - because diversity of people and ideas remains integral to our excellence as a global civic institution.
