Cardiff University School of Social Sciences is seeking to recruit a Research Associate in Procurement, to work within the Y Lab research centre, located within the School. This post is to support the InFuSe project, to design and deliver a portfolio of Public Procurement research for the InFuSe programme, working in collaboration with our InFuSe partners. The successful candidate should be an experienced researcher with a PhD, ideally in business management, supply chain, sustainability, public policy, or public administration, with competence in qualitative research methods and data analysis. Alternatively experienced practitioners are welcome to apply. 

InFuSe (Innovative Future Services) is an ambitious new European Social Fund Priority 5 funded initiative to build innovation skills and capacity in public services across the Cardiff Capital Region.  In doing so, we will ensure that public services are equipped to tackle the significant societal challenges that exist now and in the future.  Focusing on experimentation, better use of data and more innovative forms of procurement, the programme will support teams to develop new skills while working together to tackle region-wide challenges. InFuSe is a partnership between the Cardiff Capital Region City Deal, the ten local authorities in the region (led by Monmouthshire County Council), Cardiff University and Y Lab. 

Y Lab (Welsh for “The Lab”) is the Public Services Innovation Lab for Wales, a partnership between Cardiff University and Nesta. We run programmes that build innovation capacity and support the creation, testing and implementation of new ideas in Wales. We undertake research that drives better innovation in public services.  While this role is employed by Cardiff University and will sit within the Y Lab team, you will be expected to work collaboratively with all the partners involved in the programme. 

This post is funded through the Welsh European Funding Office.Priority 5: Public Services Reform and Regional Working.

This is a full time position, 35 hours a week, fixed term to the 30th September 2023.

Salary: £33,797 - £40,322 per annum (Grade 6)
