Job description

We are advertising for a two-year Post-Doc position at King’s College London to work with Professor Osvaldo Simeone on neuromorphic computing for wireless communications. The post will be based at the Centre for Intelligent Information Processing (CIIPS) and at the King’s Communications, Learning, and Information Processing lab (see https://blogs.kcl.ac.uk/kclip/ ) within the Department of Engineering.  The department is located at the Strand campus of King's, located in the centre of London. 

The successful candidate should have a PhD in Electrical Engineering and should meet the following criteria: 

  • Background in probabilistic machine learning 
  • Background in wireless communication systems 
  • Track record of high-quality research publications in peer reviewed conferences and journals. 

Background on neuromorphic computing is not required.

This post will be offered on an fixed-term  contract for 2 years 

This is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent


Key responsibilities 
  • Carry out research on neuromorphic computing for wireless communications  
  • Write papers and technical reports
  • Work with PhD students to fulfil the objectives of the project

Skills, knowledge, and experience 

Essential criteria  

1.       Background in signal processing  

2.       Background in machine learning 

3.       Background in wireless communications 

4.       Track record of high-quality research publications in peer reviewed journals 

5.       Track record of high-quality research publications in international conferences 

6.       Knowledge of Python 

7.       Research independence 

Desirable criteria

1.       Background in information theory 

2.       Background in neuromorphic computing 

* Please note that this is a PhD level role but candidates who have submitted their thesis and are awaiting award of their PhDs will be considered. In these circumstances the appointment will be made at Grade 5, spine point 30 with the title of Research Assistant. Upon confirmation of the award of the PhD, the job title will become Research Associate and the salary will increase to Grade 6.
