Job Summary

A postdoctoral position is available for the development and screening of stimuli-responsive nanomedicines. The project will investigate the development, characterisation and testing of nanoparticles using microfluidic biomimetic models of brain and heart disease. The project is highly multidisciplinary, involving polymer chemistry, nanoparticle engineering and microfluidic cell culture.

Duties and responsibilities

The position would be suitable for a highly motivated individual with a bioengineering background with a strong commitment to original research. You will work as part of a team and should be willing to collaborate with and assist other team members using your expertise in multidisciplinary nanoscience, biology and microfluidics.

Essential requirements

  • You should have a PhD degree in either chemistry, chemical engineering, biomedical science, materials science, bioengineering or a related field at Research Associate level.
  • At Research Assistant level, you should have an MSc degree in either chemistry, chemical engineering, biomedical science, materials science, bioengineering or a related field

You should also have:

  • Highly mathematical and analytical skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Willingness to conduct highly interdisciplinary research and have relevant nanoparticle formulation, testing and microfluidics experience
  • Previous experience in nanoparticle development for in vivo drug delivery is desired

Further Information

Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant within the salary range £35,477 – £38,566 per annum.

The post is available from July 2020 for 12 months in the first instance. The post is based in the Department of Chemistry at Imperial College London (White City Campus).
