Ref: RA1981

£27,116 to £33,309 per annum

The Health Economics Group at Norwich Medical School seeks to recruit a collaborative and motivated Research Associate to contribute to the Group’s research profile. This post is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a project funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Programme Grants for Applied Research (PGfAR). The programme grant is called ECO and aims to promote effective eczema self-care by improving individuals’ knowledge of eczema treatments and influencing attitudes, skills, and habits related to treatment use. For further details of the project see: https://www.southampton.ac.uk/medicine/academic_units/projects/eco.page

The successful candidate will, in collaboration with colleagues also working on ECO:

  • Identify unit costs for the resources used and use these to value the resources used in the trials using individual level data;
  • Value health outcomes, including Quality Adjusted Life Years;
  • Undertake incremental cost effectiveness analyses;
  • Contribute to the development of an economic model;
  • Explore various sensitivity analyses, including the handling of any missing data;
  • Contribute to the write-up and presentation of the study results through a range of mediums but including academic publication.

Key to the post will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

You will have an undergraduate degree in economics, operational research, Mathematics or other quantitative subject, or a relevant health-related degree with significant quantitative subject component.  Ideally you will be working towards a relevant postgraduate qualification in health economics (or related subject with a major quantitative component).  It would also be useful for you to be familiar with methods of health economic evaluation.

This is a full-time, fixed term post with funding from 1 September 2022 until 28 February 2023.  We are open to considering flexible working patterns in line with appropriate UEA policy.

Closing date:  1 June 2022.

The University is committed to diversifying its workforce. As examples, we already hold an Athena SWAN Silver Institutional Award in recognition of our advancement towards gender equality. We also have a Vice-Chancellor led Taskforce on Tackling Racism and a Race Equality Charter Working Group which support our work on race equality. Our aim is to submit to the Race Equality Charter in 2024.
