Applications are invited for a Research Associate position with the Riddell group at the University of Manchester. The position will commence as soon as possible. Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent (or will have submitted a thesis prior to commencing this position) in synthetic chemistry or biochemistry, and have a record of successful publications.

The research associate appointed to this position will work on an ongoing research project in our laboratory investigating peptide binding selectivity within metal-organic cages. To ensure maximal benefit from this short-term opportunity the research associate appointed to this position will have good synthetic skills and experience in either peptide synthesis or supramolecular host-guest chemistry. The proposed project provides opportunities to use a wide variety of charactization techniques including NMR (1D, 2D, heteronuclear and DOSY), mass spectrometry, IR, CD, HPLC and UV-vis and fluorescence spectroscopies.

The successful candidate should be willing to learn new techniques and explore novel research approaches, and must be highly motivated, ambitious and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills. They should be capable of working under their own initiative while also providing appropriate guidance and support to other members of the research group.
