We seek to recruit an enthusiastic, highly motivated scientist with proven intellectual and technical abilities to work on a computational materials chemistry project. The ambitious 7-year project, funded by the UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship Programme, involves a collaboration between Dr Logsdail (School of Chemistry), Dr Keal (STFC Daresbury, UK) and Prof. Blum (Duke University, USA).
The overall aim of the programme is the development of novel methods for hybrid quantum and molecular mechanics (QM/MM) simulation of heterogeneous catalytic reactions. The initial objectives are to develop approaches that make QM/MM accessible for solid-state modelling of surface reactions, with a focus on streamlining the setup procedures such as cluster design and optimisation of the embedding environment. New functionality will be applied to timely challenges in the generation of hydrogen fuel using heterogeneous catalysis. Experience with the development of computational software for chemical and materials simulation is highly desirable.
Applicants must hold a Postgraduate degree at PhD level in a relevant area of computational and theoretical chemistry (or equivalent) or relevant industrial experience.
