About the vacancy:

UWE Bristol are one of the largest universities in the South West and one of the largest employers in the Bristol region. We currently have an opportunity for a Research Associate in our Centre for Architecture and Built Environment Research (CABER).

The University of the West of England (UWE) has an internationally leading profile in built environment research. CABER is seeking to appoint a Research Associate with a background in urban transport, design for safety and/or social sciences research to support a co-funded EU and UKRI research project.

SOTERIA (www.soteriaproject.eu ) is a HORIZON-RIA research project, which is part of the “Safe, Resilient Transport and Smart Mobility services for passengers and goods” EU call HORIZON-CL5-2022-D6-01.

About you:

This role is specifically targeted at working with stakeholders across Europe to understand the road safety challenges and opportunities of micro-mobility road users. If necessary, you may be required to travel to and work with other European partner countries (e.g. Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Luxembourg, Spain).

You should have experience of using web-based survey tools (e.g. Qualtrics) and using statistical software packages (e.g. SPSS) to interrogate quantitative datasets; plus, the ability to use qualitative data analysis software packages (e.g. Nvivo) too.

The post holder will report to Dr Colin A. Booth (Associate Head of Research and Scholarship in the School of Architecture and Environment within the College of Arts, Technology and Environment (CATE)), and they will be expected to interface with researchers in CATE and also the project partners across Europe. This is a full-time, fixed term 21-month post with potential to extend depending on future research funding.

This post is based at our lively Frenchay  campus where we have invested in the latest facilities and resources to give both our staff and students access to everything they need to succeed – £300m has been invested in new state-of-the-art learning spaces and accommodation while we continue to develop incredible new facilities  to enhance our offer even further.

Frenchay campus has excellent transport links ; as well as being located near the motorway network we are within walking distance of two train stations , our bus terminus connects us to the local bus and metrobus network and we also have a range of cycling and changing facilities.
