Salary Details: £32,958 per annum
Allowances: plus £2,923 London Allowance
Contract Type: Temporary/Fixed term
Contract Term: Full time

We invite applications for a post of Research Associate in Biomedical Engineering (PhD or equivalent/substantial research or industrial experience) in the Institute of Pharmaceutical Science, in association with engineering in the Department of Informatics, to participate in an exciting, innovative collaboration between engineers and clinical and biomedical scientists in the field of Parkinson’s and related diseases.
This ‘Parkinson’s Disease Assessment Toolkit’ project involves developing/validating instruments for objectively describing disease in individuals of widely ranging age/ability, often with emphasis on minimally invasive sensing systems and/or minimal power consumption. We seek experience in electronics and computer interfacing, in particular with microcontrollers (Arduino or similar), and enthusiasm about exploiting technology for solving medical problems. Existing methodologies will be consolidated, devices refined, to be more user-friendly and adapted to provide instantaneous end-data: this will involve software development and interfacing. New methodologies will be developed to address other disease facets. The scope is from initial concept, through prototype production/replication, to paving the way to manufacture of devices with commercial potential.
The selection process will include competency-based questions, a presentation, an assessment and a panel interview.
Interviews are scheduled to be held the week commencing: 25th September 2017.
This post will be Fixed Term Contract for 12 months.
To apply for this post, you will need to register with the HireWire system first to download and submit the application form.  Please note, should you wish to submit a CV and/or a short statement, you will need to copy & paste these at the end of the application form as the system will only allow one document to be uploaded.
