Job summary
Applications are invited for a Research Associate who will work under the direction of Professor Sadaf Ghaem-Maghami.
The post is funded by Target Ovarian Cancer and it is aimed at recognising factors that determine whether ovarian tumour is immunogenic, depending on its genetic make-up.
Duties and responsibilities
The post holder will carry out research to investigate novel genes identified that are involved in immune stimulation in ovarian cancer, to undertake project management and/or supervise multi-disciplinary teams. The post-holder will design and carry out experiments using novel identified genes to over express in in vitro and in vivo tumour models, carry out immunological assays and in vivo imaging of the immune system, molecular and pathological tumour analysis for immunological response and response to novel targeted therapy. The Research Associate will be expected to submit publications to refereed journals and to attract external research funding.
Essential requirements
Applicants must demonstrate how they meet the criteria as outlined in the person specification but in particular, must have a PhD or equivalent qualification. Additionally, applicants must have experience of molecular probe discovery, PET imaging in in vivo models, PET imaging of the immune system, cellular analytics, FACS, imnuno-histochemistry, in vivo small animal models of tumour genesis and imaging, immunology and immunotherapy in these models, in vitro immunological assays, confocal microscopy and molecular biology.

This position is full time and available for a fixed term until 31/12/2024. The post holder will be based at the Hammersmith Hospital Campus of Imperial College London, East Acton with a start date no later than 1/4/2024.
*Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as a Research Assistant within the salary range £40,694 - £43,888 per annum.
