We are seeking to recruit a short-term, part-time post-doctoral research associate (PDRA) to help end of project deliverables for the EPSRC RAMONA project examining supply chain resilience for additive manufacture, with expertise in additive manufacturing for supply chain: 

  • expertise in of mapping and modelling of supply chains
  • expertise in additive manufacturing, its operations and business activities
  • Ideally postdoctoral experience in AM delivery services

You will be part of a research project, named “Responsive Additive Manufacture to Overcome Natural and Attack-based disruption(RAMONA) funded through a Responsive Manufacturing research grant EP/V051040/1 from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). The University of Surrey and Bristol University Business School are developing the integrative work on supply chain for additive manufacturing for the project, with this position supporting the final deliverables of this part of the project. .

Due to the short-term nature of the position, we cannot support visa applications and so only those already with permission to work in the UK can be considered.

GOALS OF THE POSITION

WP3: Responsive additive manufacturing design, management and optimisation (addressing Research Objective 3 for the project).  

The research objective for this WP is to provide some work that shows integration across the broader project. The provision of integration of  WP1 (AM tagged objects), 2 (AM cyber security) and 3 (modelling supply chain for resilience), which together enables a responsive additive manufacturing system to detect and respond to internal and external factors caused by malicious or natural events.

You will necessarily support Co-I Dr Davies and Dr Roshani on completion of themes. Whilst we have flexibility on exact content, the goals are clear:

  • Working in close collaboration with Co-I from Bristol and researchers from across the group of partner firms, alongside academics who have expertise in AM and cybersecurity. 
  • Work needs to be synthesised into journal articles. The perspective taken will depend on your skills, but outputs a published output is important both for the project and your own CV 

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

An academic with knowledge of additive manufacturing and can deliver on integration of research. Previous academic experience publishing in academic journals in an applicable area of academia is essential.

The position is 0.2 FTE and ends 30 September 2024
